60 Minutes Digs into Robo-Signing Scandal

In the course of investigating individual foreclosure cases for homeowners, Foreclosure Defense Attorneys (like our friend Lynn Szymoniak, featured here) discovered a virtual rat's-nest of incompetence, abuse and downright FRAUD perpetrated by lenders and the attorneys they hired to foreclose on American homeowners.  Sixty Minutes broadcast an excellent story about this important subject in April of 2011.

Special Deal for Banks that Buy the Assets of Other Banks

For as long as we've been defending homeowners against foreclosure, the big mystery has been:

"WHY DON'T BANKS DO BUSINESS LIKE BUSINESS?"

In other words, why are banks so very anxious to foreclosue against homeowners, when they seem to be losing more money by doing so than if they gave the owners modifications.  It just doesn't make sense.  This article, which is over a year old, explains one of the sources of "secret profits" in foreclosure, which is part of why the banks act the way they do.

Although the guys in the video seem a little "exciteable," what they're saying is true.  We've heard bank lawyers admit as much in meetings.
